Pushups question (need some advice)?
Question by Clu: Pushups question (need some advice)?
ok so im 16 years old and i’ve never really been into muscle building but the reality hit me a couple weeks ago that i got nothing better to do so i started doing pushups…now im 6’2 and im only like 160-170 pounds so im pretty skinny but i’m trying to build some chest and arm muscles. I have no acess to a gym or any excercise equipment though and all i have is two 10 pound dumbells that i picked up from a yard sale lol.
Were poor so i can’t be buying protein or a bunch of meats and fish so i gotta basicly build it on my own with not much help because i gottameat what’s given to me. I only do pushups at night and it’s usually 60-100. I know that sounds pathetic but i don’t do normal pushups. I have a matress on the floor that i sleep on and i rest my feet on it while im doing the pushups so i’m kind of inclined, i assume it’ll build more muscle that way because it’s more of a strain for my upper body to reach the floor due to me being somewhat inclined.
I’ve been doing pushups the way T.I. is doing them in this video to make use of the dumbells… is this a good or bad way or doesn’t it really matter? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bodTeHgjWoI&feature=related (the 1 with the dumbells)
i know i probally could have found a better video to show you but i recalled seeing that and decided it was good enough. anyways like i said i work with what i have and i can’t get into all that weight gain stuff. I’ve already seen slight results i’m just needing to know on estimate if i can even achieve a decent ammount of muscle doing pushups because i’ve heard mixed reviews….thanks

Those are pretty good for a work out. If you’ve got nothing else, keep up with what you have. You don’t need equipment if you want to be strong.
Check out the site below for some great body weight stuff.
Great Bargain!,
I purchased this product so I could perform at home the exercises prescribed by my physical therapist. It’s a great bargain. It comes with everything shown in the picture on the product detail page: two long tubes (each with different resistance levels), two short tubes of different resistance levels, a loop tube, jump rope, blue resistance (or PT) band, a pair of handles, DVD, carry bag, printed workout chart. The tubes are sturdy and well constructed and using them as directed does indeed provide a total body workout.
You don’t have to watch the DVD in order to get started; the printed chart is easy to follow. However, I recommend watching the DVD at least once for Jillian’s tips on proper positioning and her explanations of what the workouts are intended to accomplish.
The loop tube in the DVD is better than the one included in the box. The one in the box has two movable pieces of rubber padding/handles for your ankles and hands. The problem with it is that the padding/handles slip out of position when doing lower body workouts. The loop tube in the DVD has ankle straps that stay velcroed in place during the workout. I wish they’d included the DVD version of the loop tube in this kit (at a justifiably higher price). The included loop tube works very well when doing upper body exercises. It works only OK for lower body workouts. It’s just that you must be mindful of the padding slipping out of place during the lower body workouts. All the same, if I can find the DVD version of the loop tube (at a reasonable price), I’ll probably buy it.
I love this product and am amazed that I could get everything in it for just $24.95 (at a local retailer). I highly recommend it.

|Feel the burn,
The Jillian Michaels Total Body Kit has kicked my bum since I received it in the mail. If you are dedicated and follow the dvd like she says, you will see results. Like any work out, you will get super tired super fast, but it gets easier as you go along. It’s great to have this around on days I don’t make it to the gym. All of the exercises are not hard to do at all.

|Included DVD shows work out with different product,
The CD that comes in the box shows Jillian doing exercises with the products that come in the box. She shows exercises with something called a “looped tube”, however the product that is in the box is a very cheap knockoff of the looped tube that doesn’t even work the same.
